A Little Humor for Your Tuesday

Isn’t it the truth though? Just this morning I was driving down Dewey and I thought we had an earthquake… Turns out it was just a massive hole followed by an even bigger hump-like-thing.

Thanks Robin!

Yeah… We Suck.

Ok so here’s the deal… Delaney and I have been super busy lately with work and stuff, so, as you may have noticed, we have not been posting lately.

We apologize. In fact, we are planning a summer makeover for this place, as we will both have more time by then.

We’re not sure what exactly that will all entail (feel free to give us ideas) but we’ll let you know as soon as we come up with a plan.

Thanks for your patience!

Oh, and by the way Foles, I don’t see you posting at all. :-P

Mike Venner Memorial

Ok, we’ll admit it whole-heartedly… We’ve been really lazy lately. I’m pretty sure this is the longest any of us have gone without posting. But now, to break the silence, something really worth writing about…

A scholarship fund has been created in the name of Mike Venner, a great father, husband and friend, whose passing this last year was a tragedy that will affect us all for years to come.

To raise money for the scholarships, there will be a “Golf Tournament and Depot Extravaganza” taking place in June.

Here’s the press release:

To memorialize one of Butte’s greatest promoters, the Mike Venner Memorial Golf Tournament, auction, dinner and dance will take place June 8. The golf tournament will take place at the Anaconda Country Club and Fairmont Hot Springs resort, with transportation from the Butte Depot at 8:30am. The Dinner, Dance and Auction starts at 6 at the Butte Depot with live music and many big-ticket items. For details, check out mikevennermemorial.com….proceeds will establish an education scholorship for Southwest Montana students.

Please attend if you can… it’s a great cause in the name of an even greater guy.

Promise we’ll start posting more. :)

Uhhhh Parade

Well Happy St. Patrick’s Day to youse guys….

Marx and I did attend the parade but we were slightly late getting started this morning so we did NOT get a good spot and our pictures basically suck. Sorry guys.

Maybe we were stuck behind you? :-)

Anyway, if you want to see the few we ended up taking, you can check them out on flickr.

Dude, it’s almost St. Patty’s Day

Okay I would go to all the trouble to put up a big old list of all the St. Patrick’s Day stuff going on for Butte’s Biggest Holiday…..

But the Montana Standard went though all the trouble already. Just looking at that list makes me tired.

We will definitely be at the parade. Otherwise, I’m not even sure which events we will hit…. What events are you going to make sure to attend?

Being on Saturday will give the whole day a different flavor. Can’t wait!

What’s Up at Dewey & Lexington?

Months and months ago I noticed the county attorney standing at the corner of Dewey & Lexington (at the edge of the parking lot of UBC) for a few hours one afternoon.

Then recently there has been a lot of construction-y activity on the northwest corner of that intersection, for no real apparent reason. (Sidenote: they had a “sidewalk closed” sign up for a while one day, which was the funniest damn thing I’ve ever seen, being as there is, in fact, no sidewalk there… That gave me a hearty chuckle.)

Anyway, this morning I noticed that there was a truck at that corner with Rocky Mountain Traffic Control or something like that. So I guess that explains that. I wonder if they’re going full-on stoplight, or if it’s going to be some sort of half-assed solution. Either way, it’s gotta be an improvement over what’s going on there now….

Remember when it wasn’t even a 4-way stop? Those were the days….

I searched the Standard’s archives for any information on the activity at that intersection but didn’t find anything. I haven’t really been keeping up with my paper reading lately so it could have been a front page story and I may have missed it. If you have any info, let me know….

I’m a Slacker

Okay, so I haven’t been posting much. Neither has anyone else, but as I discovered today, they probably couldn’t even if they’d tried.

When I upgraded WordPress after the server move it changed all of our users to “Subscribers” including Marx and myself. That meant we could all log in until we were blue in the face but the dashboard had none of the abilities to write a post.

So when any of our fine posters logged in they probably thought we’d taken away their privileges. We didn’t… I just apparently don’t pay attention at ALL.

The only account that could write anything was the joint admin account that Marx and I both use–and I usually log in using that and then just set my posts to reflect that I was the author. We use the same computer and just have it always logged in as the admin, so that’s why it took so long for me to notice.

So, sorry guys. It’s been fixed and I hope we’re back up to speed.
