Back?

Sometimes I miss writing here. Every so often I think about writing again. Usually this happens when I see something crazy around town. Have you noticed that all the shamrocks haven’t been taken down from St. Patrick’s Day. There is even a Christmas tree still up on a light pole over near Cobban & Harrison. Do you think they’ll take them down ever?

I am suffering from information overload. Maybe this will be the last entry for a while or maybe I will write more. Who knows?

Dude, it’s almost St. Patty’s Day

Okay I would go to all the trouble to put up a big old list of all the St. Patrick’s Day stuff going on for Butte’s Biggest Holiday…..

But the Montana Standard went though all the trouble already. Just looking at that list makes me tired.

We will definitely be at the parade. Otherwise, I’m not even sure which events we will hit…. What events are you going to make sure to attend?

Being on Saturday will give the whole day a different flavor. Can’t wait!

Christmas Tree Recycling

The Butte-Silver Bow Public Works Department has been running a Christmas Tree recycling program since 1992. A recent release says that over 67,000 trees have been recycled in the past fourteen years.

More information on the program:

The tree recycling program saves valuable landfill space and provides material to be used in the compost production at the Butte-Silver Bow Landfill. The tree collection is a major portion of the 6,000 cubic yards of tree trimming and yard waste that are diverted from landfill disposal each year.

All residents are asked to remove all decorations, nails, tinsel, wire, ropes, plastic bags and nailed-on stands before putting the trees at the collection sites.

Recycle your tree through the month of January by leaving it at any of the following locations:

  1. Civic Center parking lot
  2. Stodden Park
  3. The empty lot on the southeast corner of Platinum and Excelsior
  4. Continental Drive South of St. James East
  5. The Mountain Con Skating rink at Main St. and Minah St.
  6. High Altitude Speed Skating Center parking lot
  7. Compost Area at the Butte-Silver Bow Landfill

For more information: Contact the Public Works Department at 497-6515 or 782-1463.

Salvation Army Angels Need Angels

The Salvation Army needs Butte’s help. They currently have over 75 angels left to be picked from the angel trees in Wal-Mart, Butte Plaza Mall, and Denny’s restaurant. Each angel has the name, age, clothing sizes, and gift request for one low-income child in our community.

These little angels may go with very little this Christmas if they are not shopped for. Shoppers are asked to return the gifts with the angel tag attched to the Salvation Army Thrift Store at 1229 Harrison Ave. by Wed. December 20 at 5:00 P.M.

Please help out if you can. It’s a great cause and will truly be appreciated.
