About ButteTalk

ButteTalk was started by two Butte natives, Delaney and Marx in February 2006. Since then we have added five writers to our team, Murphy, Bill Foley, Matt Vincent, Jack Hanley, and Robin Jordan.

We intend to talk about Butte culture, events, news, sports, etc. Once in a while we’ll voice our own opinions on current issues facing our city, state, and nation.

Our goal is to keep Butteians informed and up-to-date.

Enjoy,
BT Crew

The St Pat’s pictures were great and much appreciated for those of us who live out of state and could not get home. Looks like a good time was being had by all.

That’s right, the same one from the ButteRats.com boards. It’s good to see another site about Butte out there.

I grew up on the Butte hill, minering family all the way. Good to see this site about Butte, and I hope to contribute something once in a while. Looks good so far!

My Mom grew up in Butte with her brother at the top of Main Street, just up from St. Mary’s and the Post Office. My warmest childhood memories (we lived in Filer, Idaho) are visiting her extended family over the Fourth of July. Even after I married and moved to AZ – I often found a reason to go to Butte. I’m sending this around to many friends — and hoping to hear from any of you who remember or are near the little store that was part of Granma’s home — we love Butte!

My first experience with the Butte Talk site is impressive. It came up with the article on my leaving the ‘roun’town Review. I was very pleased with the remarks and now??? perhaps???, I may have an outlet for some of my kind of news. Twelve years of good news today is really catching on. I believe Butte has been discovered by the outside world. Maybe it’s time we got together on the “inside” and did some things together. Go “Butte Talk!”

Hey, I’m impressed. My friend told me about the site, so I’ll try to get you any info on upcoming charitable events, concerts, meetings, etc. as I get it. Great job!

It’s good to see this site and read more “news from ome.” I’m as far from Butte as you can be and still be in Montana. I have a question. Who actually uses the term Butteians to describe themselves?

I landed on this site while looking for my son, Mike Venner’s web site. I was delighted when I read all the neat, funny and informative things about Butte. I read an article from a kathy Harrington asking if anyone remembers her Gramma’s store and home. I was raised in Dublin Gulch, attending St Mary’s and Harrington’s store was a must stop place for all of us kids. How that kind lady put up with all of us is still a mystery to me. Need lady, great store, pick candy which was the best. Also I would like to mention that the 2nd Annual Mike Venner Memorial/Scholarship Golft tournament is scheduled for June 13th. Anyone wanting to join we would love to have you, if not golfer stop and have a drink with all of us at the Butte Depot around 7:00 we are having a barbeque and music by the Slip and an auction. Again I am delighted to have come across this site. Thanks Kitty Venner

hi all…it’s that time again, when people with websites start to explore what new technologies are out there…

I have a great idea. Back when i used to work for Dell in Texas, i would always go to this really cool website that used a webcam to view the beach and the waves in Hawaii. It seems to have generated a few million hits per year, and after 2 years everyone started doing it.

Have you guys considered: 1. using a webcam in Butte – i’m sure there are ones out there, just need to link, good way to drive traffic. 2. creating an affiliate program. 3. going national.

I’d love to explore the possibilities for us montanans. It is my belief that if we, here in Montana, don’t use technology for financial gain, that our economy will leave us lower in the dust at the end, cuz we’re montana and we don’t really matter to the rest of the country.

Happy Memorial Day (i forgot what i was supposed to rememorial!)

I don’t know if you were in Butte for the second week in July, but it was smokin’! I was never so proud of our city as when we hosted the National Folk Festival, a carnival at our Mall, and a rodeo all on the same weekend. I worked with the Saddle Club at the Rodeo selling programs, so I had an opportunity to meet a lot of people who were at a rodeo for the first time. They had come for the Festival. This was followed by a major Native American PowWow. Coming up soon are Knievel Days and the An Ri Ragh, an Irish Festival. Years ago, I said we can be a festival city. We have been doing it, but we just didn’t realize how great we can be. Butte, you’ve done it. Keep it going. I am proud of Butte and all in it.. Jack Hanley
